Verification and qualification of composite components
A 2-day training course on design and manufacturing of fibre reinforced polymer components. The course is based on the industry accepted standard DNV-ST-C501, which has a proven track record in the offshore and processing industries
DNV standard DNV-ST-C501 is a versatile standard for composite components, covering: design, materials, structural analysis, manufacturing and testing. This course will give an introduction to the background of DNV-ST-C501 and other relevant standards. A general overview will be presented in addition to selected detailed topics from each section (e.g. assessment of critical failure modes, determination of characteristic material data, long term failure mechanisms, and application of partial safety factors). The second day focuses on qualification and testing of materials in accordance with DNV-ST-C501, with lessons learnt and experiences from projects.
Learning objective
- Increased understanding of the standard structure, workflow and principles
- Ability to plan and execute qualification (material, structure or both), in accordance with DNV-ST-C501.
Target group
Engineers working with design, manufacturing, testing and analysis of composite structures and materials. Industry groups include, but are not limited to: offshore, maritime, civil infrastructure and renewables.
