This training introduces the legal framework of all kind of surveys required on ships, as well as the issuance of certificates. Distinctions are made between the requirements of classification societies and the requirements of flag states. The various survey types, their intervals and time periods are explained. The contents and validity of the required certificates are looked at in detail. In addition, the course also covers the planning, preparation and conduct of surveys on board. A quick introduction is included to show how the DNV customer portal VERACITY can assist with issues arising from survey and certificate issues.

Case studies are used to give the participants the chance to apply what they have learnt when dealing with rules and regulations and planning surveys.
