SE-16 Float-over analysis
The course introduces float-over analysis at different load-transfer phases using SIMA.
Description:
The float-over analysis course starts from frequency domain analysis using HydroD(Wadam) to generate necessary hydrodynamic coefficients, which is very important for accurate time domain analysis. Loading conditions for different load-transfer phases are carefully handled in SIMA modelling. Typical structures for float-over analysis, such as DSU, FSU, etc. are modelled with fender, docking cone, etc. in SIMA. Output time series are seamlessly transferred to SIMA post-processor to obtain statistical responses. Workflow task is introduced to set up a batch analysis.
Learning scope:
The following topics will be covered:
- Frequency domain HydroD(Wadam) analysis for creating hydrodynamic coefficients for SIMA
- Strength analysis to check section loads, e.g. vertical bending moment, etc.
- Various kinds of coupling elements, e.g. fender, bumper, docking cone, etc., necessary for float-over modelling in SIMA
- Time domain float-over analysis at different loading conditions in SIMA
- Set-up of Post-processor task and Workflow task for batch analysis
Target group:
Engineers involved in floater-over analysis, marine operations, or other similar analysis.
Duration:
3 days (recommended)
Optionally, a shortened course over 2 days can be provided to experienced engineers.
Prerequisite:
Basic knowledge about hydrodynamics, marine operation would help understand the course.
