Duration: 2  half days (online training)

The course explains the basics of hull roughness and its impact on fuel consumption. This is the starting point to look at antifouling where products have varying initial roughness and degrading histories between docking.

After the course you will understand why performance degrades the hull differently, what is behind alternative options (and the promises of vendors). From qualitative understanding for initial selection, we move to quantitative performance monitoring and the pitfalls involved at this stage. The focus here is on raising awareness about the different options and understanding the pros and cons of each.

Delivered in a brain-friendly, easy-to-understand style, participants will quickly come to terms with commonly-used jargon in this field and be equipped to make better choices regarding antifouling products and monitoring options. This comprehensive training course has been redesigned as a blended learning course for online delivery until further notice. It consists of a combination of live online lectures and Q&A sessions, interspersed with self-study online modules and quizzes to bring more variety and flexibility to the course.

The course focuses on:

  • Hull & propeller roughness
  • Antifouling options (incl. biocide-free alternatives)
