Power Quality training course

In this two-day training course you will learn what power quality is really about, what it entails and who all the relevant stakeholders are.

In this training you will learn that power quality really is about, what it entails and who all the relevant stakeholders are. Furthermore, you will experience first-hand what the possible effects of poor power quality are, what the direct and indirect costs of poor power quality are on industry and society at large, as well as the effect and characteristics of different power quality phenomena.

The training will start with the necessary fundamentals of Power Quality. It will familiarize you with amongst other things the most common quality phenomena and the relevant international standards, such as the EN 50160 and grid codes. These documents will be presented in the light of the prevailing situation as well as looking towards possible future developments.

You will learn which of the power quality phenomena are most important in a given situation and obtain insight on how to successfully mitigate the possible effects of power quality phenomena. Moreover, our power quality experts will guide you in how to measure and monitor power quality in the field. Practical case studies on several power quality aspects will be provided. This part will be interactive so participants are free to share their experience/issues related to power quality.

Subjects:

The following power quality phenomena will be discussed during the training:

  • Frequency deviations
  • (Slow) voltage variations
  • Harmonic distortion
  • Phase unbalance
  • Rapid voltage fluctuations (leading to flicker)
  • Voltage dips
  • Transients

Target Audience:

T&D engineers, operation and maintenance planners
