OWT-16 Frequency domain hydrodynamic analysis and time domain coupled analysis of TLP type floating offshore wind
The course focuses on TLP-type Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) in frequency & time domain including second order forces.
Description:
The course starts with frequency domain analysis to generate necessary output for time domain coupled analysis. The TLP model includes tendons, and second order full QTF analyses are executed by using Wadam. SIMA, for coupled analysis, imports the Wadam output and assembles the TLP-FOWT. The tendons are modelled with bar elements to apply required pretension, and a 5MW wind turbine is installed on top of the TLP platform.
Learning scope:
The following topics will be covered:
- Model TLP tendons in HydroD
- Set up and execute first order hydrodynamic analysis for TLP-FOWT in HydroD/Wadam
- Set up and execute second order sum frequency analysis for TLP-FOWT in HydroD/Wadam
- Post-processing for 2nd order responses with Postresp
- Create TLP-FOWT model in Sima and execute coupled time domain analysis
- Post-processing in Sima
Target group:
Engineers involved in design, analysis, or verification of floating offshore wind turbine.
Duration:
2 days
Prerequisite:
Basic knowledge about hydrodynamics is required.
Taking OWT-14, SE-06, SE-18 or SE-21 courses will help participants to understand the course contents.
