IATF 16949 Foundation and Internal Auditor

A three-day course covering the subject of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and their auditing in the automotive industry.

This three-day course covers the purposes and requirements of the IATF 16949:2016 standard for quality management systems. The standard enables an organization to demonstrate that it is able to provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. It examines best practices for design and development, production, installation and servicing automotive products.

The course includes practical exercises and instruction in audit planning and performing internal assessments against IATF 16949.  Subjects include principles of auditing, the competence and evaluation of auditors, and the audit process and reporting.

Objective

At the end of the course attendees should have an understanding of the key elements of a quality management system in the automotive industry and in particular be able to understand:

  • Auditor qualifications;
  • Importance of documents and their purpose;
  • Planning and conducting an audit in accordance with IATF 16949;
  • How to report the audit, including writing valid, factual and value-adding non-conformity reports;
  • How to undertake audit follow-up activities, including evaluating the effectiveness of corrective action.

Audience

This course has no prerequisites and is suitable for those in the automotive industry and in particular for:

  • Those wanting to further their knowledge of the IATF 16949 standard;
  • Those involved in auditing, designing, implementing, maintaining and/or improving a QMS;
  • Anyone seeking to improve their competence in auditing their organization’s QMS.
