How to prepare and conduct effective supplier audits of crewing companies

Objectives

To qualify people working in crewing as internal auditors, enabling them o prepare and conduct second party (supplier) audits/verifications of crewing companies on behalf of their shipping companies in accordance with current requirements and accepted audit principles. 

 

Entrance requirements

Experience in crewing and good knowledge of MLC, 2006

Who should attend:

Shipping company personnel with the responsibility to monitor and audit crewing companies and other suppliers of crew

Duration: approximately 14 hours depending on delivery mode

The Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC, 2006) requires that private seafarer recruitment and placement services operate in conformity with a standardized system of licensing or certification. The ISM Code requires companies to verify that all ISM-related tasks are carried out in conformity with the Code. As a consequence, regular audits of crewing companies are essential to ensure they adhere to the company's standards and to the MLC, 2006.

Course participants will learn how to prepare and conduct audits following accepted audit principles (ISO 19011) and in line with DNV's Recommended Practice RP-030.

Those who successfully complete the training and pass the final exam will receive a Course Certificate.
