Technology qualification for submarine power cables
DNV provides independent review of submarine power cable projects for wind farms and interconnectors, with advice on risk mitigation.
With submarine power cables accounting from some 80% of insurance claims in offshore wind projects, there is growing demand to reduce risk. Our technical qualification service helps you do this, by providing independent third-party review and certification.
We combine all the various engineering skills in-house, so we can support you at every stage from feasibility, concept and design through to manufacturing and construction. This includes on-site and desk-based activities such as reviewing project information (site conditions, design, plans etc.). We can also assess projects against guidelines such as the upcoming DNV Recommended Practice for subsea power cables (DNV-RP-J301).
Our breadth of expertise ensures we can put together a team suited to your needs, with experience of the problems you are likely to face. They will take a holistic, risk-based approach to identify potential weaknesses and provide recommendations. These may include suggestions for more detailed investigations, proposals for specific mitigation actions, and where necessary red flag reports.
