Offshore grid connection management
DNV provides Owner Engineer services for offshore grid connections, supporting utilities and project developers in their dealings with TSOs and manufacturers.
Grid connection is one of the most critical aspects of any offshore wind farm project. With a proven track record in this domain, we can support project developers in ensuring your connection is established in time and in line with all stakeholder requirements.
Our independent services provide support at every stage of your project, from initial planning to final commissioning. Grid connection management covers:
- Identification of the technical needs
- Identification of the parties that need to be involved
- e.g. TSOs, platform / wind turbine / control system manufacturers
- Coordination of the relevant parties and their requirements
- Mediation where inconsistencies arise
We regularly work with Transmission System Operators (TSOs), so we understand their particular requirements. This experience also allows us to identify the interfaces to the TSO and set up a task list for handling these during the various project phases. In addition, we can support you in all meetings and negotiations with the TSO.
As a leader in offshore wind, we are familiar with industry standards and the technical capabilities of offshore substations and turbines. So we can provide you with advice and technical solutions that meet both your needs and those of the TSO.
Deliverables and availability
During the project, we deliver documentation and progress reports, as well as an interface register and task list. We also ensure that the area of the project for which we are responsible stays on schedule.
Our grid connection management services are part of a wide range of support available for offshore wind projects. This extends from research and type testing of electrical equipment, to support in project execution, quality assurance and failure investigations.
