Bladed concept model design and delivery

Independent concept model solutions for onshore, offshore fixed and floating wind turbines give you confidence for in-house aeroelastic simulation.

Modern wind turbines and offshore structures are highly complex feats of engineering. Understanding the loading and stresses they will face over their lifetime of operation is a vital part of turbine and offshore structural design. However, as turbines and wind farms increase in size and complexity, so does the need for refined models and data to ensure accurate load predictions and cost-efficient designs.

Trusted models

Helping you access aeroelastic models you can trust; Bladed concept turbine models are custom-made and include DNV’s specified turbine parameters and controller DLLs that capture the characteristics of large-scale wind turbines. Using Bladed, the industry standard integrated software package for wind turbine design, a realistic aeroelastic model enables the sub-structure designer to do a coupled analysis to adjust and improve a sub-structure concept, without input from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

Bladed is trusted around the world. It is the leading commercial aeroelastic tool for wind turbines and is used by eight out of the top ten OEMs worldwide. By using Bladed, you can better represent how the OEM’s turbine models perform.

Bridging the gap

DNV has a long history of creating wind turbine concept models. The purpose of these models is to enable high fidelity numerical modelling when aeroelastic models are not available from the OEMs or when your work requires Bladed models with bespoke properties and features. These models provide representative performance and loading behaviour that reflect the scale of the turbine relevant to your design. We can leverage our unique expertise and real-world design experience to ensure you have the right numerical modelling capability to meet your requirements.

Capturing the evolving market

DNV can predict future turbine types and trends and build new Bladed concept models using our Turbine.Architect software. This enables you to get ahead of the market and explore foundation scaling studies.
