Co-creating healthcare
Co-creating healthcare
The patient safety and evidence-based practice movements, although both making important contributions to our understanding of health and healthcare, have not been able to change health systems so that they deliver consistently high quality care that improves both individual and population well-being.
One of the key reasons for this is that such attempts at change have relied on technocratic prescriptive approaches with inadequate attention to context and engaging local providers, practitioners and service users as co-creators of health systems. Person-centred healthcare improves the health outcomes for patients and reduces medication errors, the number of hospital admissions and readmissions, reduces the length of stay and the cost of care. The objectives of this project is to establish and support a global collaborative for the co-creation of safer, smarter, sustainable and person-centred healthcare.
