DNV’s Emergency Restoration System is made of standard, interchangeable components, making it straightforward to adapt the structures to any environment. All our tower types use the same basic components. With sufficient basic parts and insulators, towers can be converted from suspension to angle to dead-end towers and cater for various voltages up to 800kV.
Standards and Specifications
Standards we design to include:
- EN 50341-1: 2001
- IEC 61466-1:1997 + C1:2007
- IEC 60652
- IEC 60826:2003
- IEC 61109:2008
- NEN-EN 10025-1:2004 + NEN-EN 10025-2:2004
Steel Sections | |
---|---|
Design | Example |
DesignOur sections are designed using S355J2 galvanized steel, the same material that is used on transmission towers worldwide. This material is corrosion resistant, durable and extremely strong. The sections are box-shaped and have no protruding flanges ensuring easy handling and storage. Extensive calculations comparing steel and aluminium tower sections were done. Using steel instead of aluminium decreases the amount of sections required due to aluminium’s strength and stiffness limitations. Using less sections decrease the amount of required storage space as well as construction time. Another advantage of using steel instead is that it is less expensive than aluminium. |

Foundations | |

Design |
ExampleOur foundation structure is light weight and dismountable and requires no lifting equipment. Our base foundations are designed with a multiple articulated universal joint ensuring rotation in all directions. The foundation plates have holes at strategic points to permit dowel anchor pins to be driven through, thereby securing the footing against lateral movement. This provides a quick erection of the structures involving the minimum amount of earthworks necessary to create a level platform. We include earthing rods to properly earth the structures. The guy wire anchors are direct embedment spread anchors and can be installed in any terrain. The required hydraulic equipment and tools are included and an anchor can be fully installed within 15 minutes. |
Guy Wires | |
Design | Example |
DesignWe use high-strength stranded steel guy wires that are supplied in standard lengths and prefabricated fittings on one side to easily attach to the tower. We also supply guy wire insulators ensuring electrical safety clearances are met.

Design |
ExampleTogether with world-renown insulator suppliers, we supply all insulators necessary to cater for the required voltages. The insulators are standardized as much as possible to cater for multiple scenarios and/or voltages. The insulators are made of composite materials according to IEC 61109:2008 and IEC 61466-1:1997 + C1:2007.
