Through this strategic collaboration, DNV will now be able to offer the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) to its customers, as well as seamless access to both ATEX / IECEx certification through a single application. This streamlined approach will expedite the certification process, allowing clients to achieve compliance more efficiently and effectively.

ECAS is a Product Certification scheme for government-regulated products as mandated by the Federal Law 28 of 2001. Under this scheme, all regulated products must meet the requirements for safety and quality specified in the Technical Regulations adopted by the UAE government. Suppliers must register the products and obtain Certificate of Conformity prior in order to sell inside the UAE.

ATEX, short for "ATmosphere EXplosibles" is a mandatory certification for products sold in the European market. It ensures that equipment operates safely in explosive environments, preventing accidents when used according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Any equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres within the European Union and the European Economic Area must have ATEX certification.

To achieve IECEx certification, products must undergo a rigorous assessment process by the International Electrotechnical Commission to ensure they meet strict safety standards. This certification confirms that the products are safe for use in hazardous or potentially explosive environments.

The primary difference between ATEX and IECEx is their geographical applicability. ATEX certification is mandatory for countries within the European Union, whereas IECEx certification is recognized and accepted globally. Consequently, IECEx certification holds broader international recognition and acceptance compared to ATEX certification.
