DNV issues its first-ever ESG Recognition
(Høvik, Norway, February 20) - Growing customer, stakeholder, and regulatory demands increasingly require companies to communicate their Environmental, Social and Governmental (ESG) performance in trusted, traceable ways. To meet these rising market expectations, DNV has launched its ESG Recognition, confirming companies’ use of certified management systems to support their ESG commitments.
Saipem, a global leader in the engineering and construction of major projects for the energy and infrastructure sectors, is the first company in the world to receive an ESG Recognition statement from DNV. The recognition confirms that Saipem operates certified management systems compliant with the ISO standards for environment, occupational health and safety, quality, and anti-corruption, as well as SA8000 for social accountability.
“We are experiencing increased focus on ESG in the market. More companies are seeking to manage related risks and demonstrate performance in a credible and traceable manner. An ESG Recognition issued by DNV confirms which certified management systems a company is operating to support its ESG performance. I would like to congratulate Saipem as the first company to receive the ESG Recognition statement from us,” says Barbara Frencia, CEO for Business Assurance in DNV.
Saipem´s ESG commitment forms an important foundation of the company’s strategic and operational framework. As part of this, the company has pursued continuous improvement and progressive integration of its environmental, social, and governance management systems.
A management system certified by a third party to standards, such as those released by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), can actively contribute to supporting a company in delivering on its ESG commitment. A management system compliant with recognized, best-practice standards provides a structured approach for a company to continually manage and improve its performance in any given area of its business.
Saipem operates the following certified management systems to support its commitment to ESG performance:
- Environmental - ISO 14001 Environmental;
- Social - ISO 45001 Occupational health & safety and SA8000 Social Accountability;
- Governance - ISO 9001 Quality & ISO 37001 Anti-bribery.
