DNV GL Business Assurance breaks new ground in South East Asia and Asia for its Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification Program for Hospitals

DNV GL today launched a new healthcare publication, The State of Healthcare – From Challenges to Opportunities at the 20th annual BMJ IHI International Forum on Patient Safety and Quality in London.

The publication is a collaboration with Monday Morning Sustainia and showcases both the challenges facing healthcare globally and the good news – many examples from around the world of how people, initiatives and organizations are developing the healthcare systems of tomorrow, today.

Taken together, these examples show that fundamental change is possible, particularly when people adopt systems approaches to risk management and to co-creating healthcare solutions (patients, care-givers and authorities working in active partnership).

Joining DNV GL and Sustainia at the launch of the publication were Margaret Murphy (WHO Patients for Patient Safety) and Jeffrey Braithwaite (Professor and Director of the Centre for Health Care Resilience and Implementation Science at Macquarie University).

Written to be accessible, the 168-page report concentrates primarily on three key regions: China, the USA and Europe. It incorporates a critical review of existing knowledge as well as the results of three stakeholder roundtables in Shanghai, Washington and Brussels.

The State of Healthcare – From Challenges to Opportunities is the result of extensive stakeholder engagement following the publication in April 2014 by DNV GL of its guide, Person-Centred Care: Co-Creating a Healthcare Sector for the Future. Over the last year, DNV GL and Sustainia have presented knowledge and insights from that publication at 10 healthcare conferences in 10 different regions across four continents.

As direct preparation for the paper launched today, they conducted roundtables to discuss the way ahead with high profile participants in China, Europe, and the USA in order to uncover the barriers to and the opportunities for co-creating more sustainable healthcare systems.
