DNV and EGPC partner to advance HSE, process safety, and sustainability through digital transformation
Digital Solutions at DNV and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop an Integrated Governance Framework for Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Process Safety, and Sustainability. This collaboration will leverage DNV’s industry-leading digital solutions, including Synergi Life, to enhance EGPC’s operational safety, compliance, and sustainability efforts.
The partnership focuses on integrating a comprehensive digital platform for risk management and compliance, into EGPC’s HSE and Process Safety operations. This will enable EGPC to streamline risk assessments, improve decision-making, and ensure compliance with local and international standards. Additionally, DNV’s HSE AI Advisor will be offered to provide real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and AI-driven insights, further enhancing operational safety and efficiency.
A key component of the collaboration is the Capacity Building Program, which aims to upskill EGPC personnel and foster a culture of safety leadership. Through specialized training and workshops, EGPC staff will gain expertise in digital tools, AI applications, and best practices in Process Safety and Sustainability.
The initiative also supports EGPC’s commitment to environmental sustainability by promoting digital solutions that optimize energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and improve resource utilization. This aligns with EGPC’s long-term goals for ESG compliance and reporting.
“This partnership reflects our shared vision for a safer, more sustainable future,” said EGPC CEO, Salah Abdel-Karim. “By adopting DNV’s digital solutions, we are taking a significant step toward transforming our HSE and Process Safety practices to equal global standards of international energy companies,” said EGPC vice CEO for HSE, Tamer Aieysh. By adopting a system similar to those used by global companies, EGPC aims to leverage lessons learned from past incidents to prevent future occurrences. This collaborative effort underscores EGPC’s dedication to continuous improvement and ensuring the safety of its facilities, equipment, and communities.
“We are excited to collaborate with EGPC on this transformative journey,” said Pawan Gandhi, QHSE Principal Sales Manager for MEA and India, Digital Solutions at DNV. “Our digital solutions, including Synergi Life, will empower EGPC to achieve operational excellence while meeting its sustainability goals.”
