R&D and advisory unit in Greece

The Maritime R&D and Advisory Unit was established in 2008. Its main purpose is to become a centre of excellence on marine systems engineering serving the Greek and international maritime industry.

Its approach from the very beginning was the close collaboration and piloting of ideas together with Greek shipping companies, reflecting their needs to its research and producing value-adding services.

The unit has developed and is globally responsible for DNV’s modelling and simulation activities for ship machinery systems and our in-house computer tool COSSMOS. Our COSSMOS framework is one of a kind in the maritime industry, and the group’s expertise on novel technologies and systems attracts projects and provides support on a global scale.

Today, its mission consists of supporting the Greek and international maritime communities to address decarbonization and leverage digitalization, to make ships more competitive by providing value-adding services, advanced computer tools and, above all, the top experts of the team.
