Every 4 minutes DNV issues an electronic certificate to a customer, more than 350 per day or 130,000 per year. Easy and safe to share with relevant stakeholders, DNV's e-certificates ensure operations don’t get disrupted by missing documentation.
Moving to digital
Digitally signed electronic documents are becoming easier, more secure and more common in all industries, shipping included. DNV is the first classification society that has achieved full-scale production capability of electronic certificates. This enables issuance of electronic certificates on the entire DNG GL fleet of vessels at the first periodical survey after the roll out, subject to respective Flag acceptance.
Major benefits
Ship owners and managers, as well as flag states and port state authorities, vetting agencies and many other companies benefit from a paperless class and statutory regime. Managing, sharing, storing and verifying the authenticity of certificates is easy and secure with DNV’s support.
Electronic certificates from DNV,
- can save time and money for owners and other stakeholders because of a reduced administrative burden,
- eliminate paper handling (printing, scanning, archiving),
- can be easily shared with stakeholders using access codes,
- are always available on My DNV Fleet Status in the latest version,
- have no risks to get lost,
- complement our remote survey services.
The certificates are published on the customer portal, My DNV Fleet status, immediately upon completion of a survey or issuance from a DNV office. Certificates can also be received by utilizing an e-mail subscription facility in My DNV or delivered in an electronic format onboard the vessel.
Digitally signed electronic documents are both safe and easy to share with charterers, ports, flag administrations, insurers and other stakeholders.
The documents are protected against tampering and carry a digital signature and a unique tracking number (UTN) for the purpose of checking their validity and authenticity. The validity and authenticity of a document can be checked through an online authentication service available from trust.dnv.com by entering the UTN and the ship’s DNV ID.
Operators can also share the secure certificate folder with stake holders of their choice by using temporary access codes generated in My DNV Fleet Status.
