Trust is at the heart of everything we do. The danger of undermining this trust lies in the illegal practice of using forged DNV certificates. However, you can take steps to combat this.
How to check the authenticity of a suspicious certificate:
- Digital certificates
DNV certificates that are digitally signed and for which the electronic file is available, the authenticity of the suspected certificate can be checked in the signature field or in the signature panel. For detailed information please open the quick guide. - Approval Finder
Using Approval Finder is the preferred option for checking validity of certificates. For more information on the types of certificates in the approval finder, see page 3 of our quick guide. - Paper copy
DNV certificates which are only available as paper copy (either digitally or manually signed), and verification of the above is not possible, then contact your local DNV office or check with the DNV issuing unit stated on the certificate.
In case you need further support or can’t verify the suspected certificate, contact your local DNV office or check with the DNV issuing unit stated on the suspected certificate.
