Maritime Technologies Forum ​

Accelerating Safe Maritime Decarbonisation

The Maritime Technologies Forum (MTF), comprising leading classification societies and flag state administrations, aims to bridge the gap between technology and regulatory progress. MTF will present two new reports relating to safety and decarbonisation. Considering safe operational management as key aspect to achieve maritime decarbonisation, the first report addresses “Guidelines to develop and implement Safety Management System for ammonia-fuelled ships.” The second MTF report focuses on “Safe Carriage of Electric Vehicles (EVs)” onboard PCTCs and provides information on the characteristics of EV battery fire, including thermal runaway, and the necessity of measures including early detection, prevention of fire-spread, firefighting, evacuation, and training.
