Panel Discussion: Net-Zero Fuel Pathways

International shipping is expected to undergo a multi-fuel transition in order to decarbonise and achieve net-zero by 2050. Fuels such as biofuels, methanol, ammonia and hydrogen have been identified as fuels with high potential to decarbonise international shipping, but each of these fuels has various production pathways, risks and associated costs. This panel explores how different stakeholders across the fuel supply chain can work together to produce, transport, bunker and use net-zero fuels safely as well as discuss how the maritime industry can accelerate the pace of decarbonisation.

Maritime Technologies Forum (MTF): Accelerating Safe Maritime Decarbonisation

The wide introduction and use of alternative shipping fuels, some of them more hazardous than conventional fuels, will lead to new safety risks. The Maritime Technologies Forum, a group of classification societies and flag state administrations,  is working towards safe decarbonization and will present key findings from two upcoming reports that will cover the development and implementation of safety management systems for alternative fuels as well as safety considerations for establishing green corridors.  A panel discussion focusing on the implications for the maritime industry will follow each presentation.
