The upcoming “Financing the energy transition” event in our finance community series will examine hybrid projects where BESS is co-located with a solar park and/ or onshore wind farm. Held in Warsaw and available via live stream, our expert panel will bring diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences to explore these pressing issues.

Our fireside chat will consist of the following people:

  • Ewelina Szulc, Managing Director, Klara Renewables
  • Joanna Smolik, Head of Strategic Client Department, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK)
  • Michał Motylewski, Energy Transition Director (Poland), Clyde & Co.
  • Bart Stoffer, Business Leader Europe power market modelling and investment valuation, DNV
  • Martijn Maandag, Director Due Diligence and Global Key Account Manager, DNV.

Solar PV and onshore wind has experienced remarkable growth over the past two decades. Besides all the advantages a degree of cannibalization on the capture prices is seen. And development are hampered by amongst others grid congestion issues. But there might be a solution to these plain vanilla deals.

Hybrid projects where BESS is co-located with a solar park and/or onshore wind farm. These hybrid projects are unlocking revenue streams and de-risking greenfield projects in terms of permitting and grid access. That sounds straighforward, but what does it actually mean, how easy is it to build, and how to de-risk the project and unlock the (predictable) additional revenue streams?

During this event, the panel will shed light on challenges and opportunities of hybrid projects going forward and explore how the industry may navigate.
