Date: 27 March 2025
Time: 09:00 AM
Place: Convendum, Kungsgatan 9, 111 43 Stockholm
The upcoming “Financing the energy transition” event in our finance community series will examine the implications of the performance gap in onshore wind and explore the value within optimization of operational performance. Held in Stockholm and available via live stream, our expert panel will bring diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences to explore these pressing issues.
Our fireside chat will consist of the following people:
- Jean-Luc Kuttel, VP Investments, Energy Infrastructure Partners
- Simon Joneklav, Head of Project & Infrastructure Norway, SEB
- Fredrik Bjarnegård, Lead Asset Manager Onshore Wind, Vattenfall
- Jakub Gubanski, Principal Consultant, DNV
- Martijn Maandag, Director Due Diligence and Global Key Account Manager, DNV.
In 2023, 7% of grid-connected electricity generated worldwide was provided by wind. With a forecast of reaching 28% in 2050, as projected by DNV’s Energy Transition Outlook, the development of turbines is steadily continuing with improved operational efficiency, smarter operations and other technical developments. So far, onshore wind has experienced incredible growth and a high level of innovation, however this is increasingly clouded by the actual operational performance which often lags behind expectations.
We’re currently seeing transactions on operational onshore wind portfolios that spark challenging considerations. What is the actual value of operational wind farms, particularly considering potential gaps in performance? And more importantly, what can be done to derive the most value out of the farms? How do you best face the challenges and opportunities in terms of yield, lifetime extension, repowering and operational efficiency.
During this event, the panel will shed light on challenges and opportunities in the operational performance of onshore wind farms going forward and explore how the industry may navigate an uncertain future.
