The annual flagship OT security event hosted by Applied Risk, a DNV company, took place in Amsterdam on November 9th and gathered industry-leading professionals to navigate the ever-changing landscape for safeguarding critical infrastructure.

The 6th edition of the event delved deep into the impact of technology disruptions on OT security, shaping the path forward for organisations across industrial sectors and critical infrastructure.

 

Navigating technology disruptions in OT security

The NightWatch gathers every year top experts in industrial cyber security to share their expertise, knowledge, and real-world experiences. This year our thought leaders and renowned speakers unveilled insights into the cyber security impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud, and quantum computing on industrial sectors, and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

This year’s lineup of expert guest speakers showcased a diverse group of OT Security experts and thought leaders from various disciplines.   • Victor Zhora, Deputy Chairman of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection (SSSCIP) of Ukraine, will present "Cyber on the frontline: Protecting the heart of Ukraine." He will share insights and findings from the new SSSCIP report “Russia cyber tactics #2: Lessons learned.” The report analyses examples of attacks and attackers’ tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) observed and responded to during the world’s first cyberwar, and how the latest technology advancements in OT security help protect the heart of Ukraine.
  • Madina Doup, Lead Architect for Operational Technology at Shell, will provide an overview of Shell’s perspective on the transformative potential of these emerging technologies, as well as some of their strategies for embracing innovation and managing potential risks.
  • Sinclair Koelemij, Cyber Physical Risk Expert, will provide knowledge on "Deep Defense" a comprehensive approach to OT cyber security, going beyond conventional cyber security measures.
  • Jelle Niemantsverdriet, National Security Officer at Microsoft, will shed light on leveraging technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence within the industrial sector with the ultimate goal of building a more resilient, faster-moving and innovative business.
  • Florian Lukavsky, CTO and founder at ONEKEY, will delve into the critical realm of vulnerability management for connected devices and how automating the generation of Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) can serve as the cornerstone for implementing effective security practices.
  • Marianne Mangersnes, Manager Cyber Security Operational Technology Services at Equinor, will draw upon her extensive experience in the field to discuss how shifting focus from security to resilience can not only enable businesses to prevent disruptive events and crises but also equip them to effectively respond to incidents should they arise.
  • Discussion panel – “OT security technology disruptions, challenges, and opportunities in the EU - Are we equipped to lead?” - Panellists include Adrian Dan, representing NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA), Jelle Niemantsverdriet and Marianne Mangersnes.
