DNV’s new global report Maritime Cyber Priority 2024/25: Managing cyber risk to enable innovation, explores changing attitudes and approaches to cyber security in the maritime sector.
The research draws on a timely survey of almost 500 maritime professionals to explore the latest industry trends, and digs deeper into maritime organizations’ challenges and priorities through in-depth interviews with experts from Wärtsilä, Seatrium, and DNV. This is the second edition of the research, building on the findings of the first Maritime Cyber Priority report published in 2023.
The research finds that industry awareness of cyber risk and investment have grown rapidly, and that maritime organizations are maturing in their approach to cybersecurity. The industry is dedicated to digitalization opportunities and is willing to manage greater cyber risk to pursue them - appearing confident that it is prepared for and resilient to cyber-attacks. But there are signs of a false sense of security, relating to supply chains, operational technology (OT), and training and skills.
The research presents four key challenges for the industry and provides recommendations for how to overcome them.
