RES mapping in Zambia and Tanzania

Developing a sustainable energy infrastructure that stimulates economic growth and ultimately reduces poverty.

Client
The World Bank

Project description

This three-year project (awarded to DNV in 2014) will consist of:

  • mesoscale wind mapping for both countries
  • a comprehensive 2-year ground-based measurement campaign
  • a fully validated microscale wind resource map

This will give Zambia and Tanzania their first comprehensive wind resource atlas, enabling policymakers to take informed decisions on future energy infrastructure development.

Throughout the project, DNV will engage directly with local governmental and private sector stakeholders to educate them on renewable energy development. This will help establish a new and vibrant industry within each country. A number of in-country workshops and knowledge transfer activities will be held throughout the project.
