Cost of energy modelling

Develop an engineering/cost model which provides conceptual design and analysis services.

Objective
To further develop an engineering/cost model used by Turbine engineering services which provides conceptual design and analysis services.

Results

  • Migration of a cost model to Python.
  • Extension of the mechanical and structural component model functionality.
  • Extension of the BOP and O&M model functionality.
  • Development of capability to rapidly build “project-specific” Cost of energy (CoE) assessment tools.

Value created
Successful extension of the engineering/cost model enhanced DNV's Turbine engineering services capability to provide (CoE) assessment for orginal equipment manufacturers (OEMs), component manufacturers, owners and operators.

Quote from DNV project expert
“The knowledge and experience of our Turbine design team is combined in a new concept design capability, which also escalates the engineering results to Cost of energy. It's an extremely valuable asset for strategic turbine design & technology decision making.”

Steve Gilkes, Head of Section - Technical Evaluation, DNV - Energy
