Best Available Technique scan for two CCGT plants
Best Available Technique scan for owner of two Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plants resulting in identified measures and regulator satisfaction.
Challenge
The owner of two Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plants in the Netherlands is committed to environmental compliance and the use of Best Available Techniques (BAT) regarding emissions, soil, water and storage of hazardous substances. The sites were last checked against BAT and (inter)national legislation in 2007 and the plants needed to demonstrate to their regulator whether they are still in compliance and using BAT. If this was not the case, the plants would be required to describe a plan of action to ensure compliance.
Our approach
- Detailed assessment of (inter)national legislation and BAT documents that the plants needed to comply with
- Detailed assessment of documentation, design plans and data on emissions, soil, water and storage of hazardous substances
- Two site visits and inspections
- Identification of compliance and current measures taken to ensure BAT
- Assistance in writing plan of action to ensure compliance
- Communication with regulator
Results
- Identified a number of (future) non-compliances
- Found several Best Available Techniques which should be implemented
- Identified potential solutions
- Engagement of the regulator
- Submission of all documentation before strict regulator deadline
- Highly satisfied regulator
