Melissa Morrison was hired in January as an Environmental Permitting Project Manager (she has since been promoted to EPS Team Lead, Western Canada and Midwest US). She came to DNV with over 14 years of regulatory experience in energy, transmission and other sectors, and now leads our permitting efforts in the midwestern region of North America and is growing our capabilities in hydrogen energy storage environmental and permitting services.

His last position was as a Project Manager at Dial Cordy & Associates, and he helped round out our EPS Biology team by bringing unique coastal and marine experience from working on multiple coastal infrastructure and construction projects, along with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) permitting experience.

Sydney Notman was hired in May as a GIS Analyst. Sydney came to DNV with a solid foundation in GIS software, quantitative modeling, and georeferencing from internships at private firms and public bureaus, with specialized expertise in natural disaster relief management. Sydney supports various environmental and permitting tasks including site selection and characterization studies, multi-criteria spatial analysis, and development of new geospatial tools and GIS services.

Description
Kristin Carman was hired in July as Offshore Permitting Manager. She has over 12 years of diverse and extensive experience in environmental science, consulting and permitting for the energy industry. At DNV she is responsible for facilitation and permitting of energy projects in the northeastern United States with a focus on offshore projects, including permit application preparation and completion of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Construction and Operation Plans (COP).

Description
David de Caro was hired in December as Midwest Permitting Manager. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his ~20 years of experience permitting projects for Iberdrola and Cardno Entrix, as well as managing large projects for Chesapeake Utilities Corp. He has NEPA, brownfield development, and pipeline permitting experience. At DNV, David is helping to expand our rapidly growing permitting services, with a focus on permitting renewables projects in the US midwestern states.

Javier has more than ten years of experience in the Offshore Wind industry, with specific experience working within the Engineering, Project Management and R&D fields of the Floating Wind segment. Javier started his career at Ramboll Offshore Wind (Denmark), working on the design of large-scale Offshore Wind farms. On his previous role at Principle Power Javier was the Project and Engineering Manager for the development of Floating Wind projects in the UK and USA, including the development of Hull, Mooring, IAC and logistic plans for the Morro Bay WEA. For these analysis Javier’s team developed the WindFloat technology. Javier has been deeply involved in deep-water and asset digitalization R&D strategies within the USA, and is very familiar with the current FOW state-of-the-art and most recent innovative trends.

Jessie Bascom joined DNV as an Electrical Engineer on the EE team in April 2021 and currently resides in Austin, TX. Hasan Tharwani joined DNV’s electrical engineering team in April 2021. His role includes electrical design reviews, site inspections, and assessing risk and code compliance for solar generation projects as an independent engineer. He has previous experience developing low voltage electrical power distribution designs and has expertise performing power system analysis, including short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies. Hasan received his B.S degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
