Matt Lockwood is a member of the project management team in independent technical due diligence engagements within M&A at DNV. His focus is on renewable energy generation and storage projects at different stages of development from greenfield through operational. In addition to M&A advisory, Matt provides behind-the-meter DER subject matter expertise to a wide range of clients providing tech-to-market support, technical assistance, inspection and re-commissioning, and program administration.

Dennis Noll joined DNV in 2021 as Director and Head of Section of the M&A team, where he leads the group responsible for due diligence of renewable assets, portfolios, and platforms in support of purchase and sales transactions. Mr. Noll has over 15 years of experience in the renewables and M&A spaces, and has led a variety of technical transactions and teams over his renewables career.

Murray Fisher

Senior Wind Turbine Blade Expert​

We're excited to welcome Murray Fisher, Ph.D. to our Wind Asset Operations team! Murray joins us as a Senior Engineer, providing technical advisory services to support clients in managing their blade portfolios throughout North America. He brings over a decade of experience in wind blade aerodynamics, conceptual design, performance and inspection methods and will play a key role in our efforts to advance the wind industry in the United States.

Emily Grady

Renewable Energy Coordinator & Office Administrator San Diego​

Emily Grady joined us as our renewable energy coordinator as well as the office administrator in San Diego, CA. Emily has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, and a Master of Advanced Studies in Climate Science and Policy from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Before joining us at DNV, Emily worked in several positions ranging from Task Force Leader and Volunteer at Citizen’s Climate Lobby working on Wisconsin’s 2030 to 2050 utility carbon reduction goal, to Client Service Coordinator and Manager with Aveanna Healthcare supporting, coordinating, and managing home health care for medically complex pediatric clients amongst others.

Jonathan Giuffria

Wind IE Project Manager

Jonathon Giuffria joined the North America Wind Independent Engineering group in 2021 as a Project Engineer. Jonathon has a background in energy efficiency and environmental economics through academic and professional experiences. For his work in predicting rising costs of environmental policy under IPCC climate scenarios, Jonathon has been recognized by the Land, Water, and Environmental Economics discipline of the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association as well as having been published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Jonathon earned his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Economics & Management from Mississippi State University and Master of Science in Applied & Agricultural Economics from Virginia Tech.

William Shemie

Amanda Sun

Wind IE Project Manager

Joo Yong Amanda Sun joined the North America Wind Independent Engineering group in 2021 as a Project Engineer. Amanda has a background in renewable energy and environment engineering through work and academic experiences. She came to DNV from Statkraft U.S. as a markets analyst where she built and analyzed supply and demand projection models for various Renewables Energy Credit markets within PJM. Amanda earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University.

Marina Curak

Wind Turbine Engineer

Marina started as a wind turbine engineer at DNV in May 2021. In less than a year, while learning a lot about all major OEMs and wind turbine technology, Marina greatly contributed to the team through multiple projects both in the office and in the field, where she inspected operational wind farms. Furthermore, Marina developed a great tool on Python to automate the QAQC review that we have to perform on all construction monitoring projects, saving the team a significant amount of time, thanks a lot Marina!

Melissa Morrison

Melissa Morrison was hired in January as an Environmental Permitting Project Manager (she has since been promoted to EPS Team Lead, Western Canada and Midwest US). She came to DNV with over 14 years of regulatory experience in energy, transmission and other sectors, and now leads our permitting efforts in the midwestern region of North America and is growing our capabilities in hydrogen energy storage environmental and permitting services.

Kristian Rogers

Project Biologist

Kristian Rogers was hired in February as a Project Biologist. His last position was as a Project Manager at Dial Cordy & Associates, and he helped round out our EPS Biology team by bringing unique coastal and marine experience from working on multiple coastal infrastructure and construction projects, along with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) permitting experience.

Sydney Notman

GIS Analyst

Sydney Notman was hired in May as a GIS Analyst. Sydney came to DNV with a solid foundation in GIS software, quantitative modeling, and georeferencing from internships at private firms and public bureaus, with specialized expertise in natural disaster relief management. Sydney supports various environmental and permitting tasks including site selection and characterization studies, multi-criteria spatial analysis, and development of new geospatial tools and GIS services.

Kristin Carman

Offshore Permitting Manager

Kristin Carman was hired in July as Offshore Permitting Manager. She has over 12 years of diverse and extensive experience in environmental science, consulting and permitting for the energy industry. At DNV she is responsible for facilitation and permitting of energy projects in the northeastern United States with a focus on offshore projects, including permit application preparation and completion of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Construction and Operation Plans (COP).

David de Caro

Midwest Permitting Manager Environmental and Permitting

David de Caro was hired in December as Midwest Permitting Manager. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his ~20 years of experience permitting projects for Iberdrola and Cardno Entrix, as well as managing large projects for Chesapeake Utilities Corp. He has NEPA, brownfield development, and pipeline permitting experience. At DNV, David is helping to expand our rapidly growing permitting services, with a focus on permitting renewables projects in the US midwestern states.

Located in the Boston area with a 25+ year career permitting and leading engineering teams in offshore and onshore renewable energy, Adrienne is championing huge growth in our support of floating and fixed-bottom projects on both coasts.

Javier Molinero

Offshore Wind ​Senior Engineer

Javier has more than ten years of experience in the Offshore Wind industry, with specific experience working within the Engineering, Project Management and R&D fields of the Floating Wind segment. Javier started his career at Ramboll Offshore Wind (Denmark), working on the design of large-scale Offshore Wind farms. On his previous role at Principle Power Javier was the Project and Engineering Manager for the development of Floating Wind projects in the UK and USA, including the development of Hull, Mooring, IAC and logistic plans for the Morro Bay WEA. For these analysis Javier’s team developed the WindFloat technology. Javier has been deeply involved in deep-water and asset digitalization R&D strategies within the USA, and is very familiar with the current FOW state-of-the-art and most recent innovative trends.

Gwendalyn Bender

Gwen has spent her entire career in renewables, beginning at 3Tier and then Vaisala in Seattle, where she worked her way up from an entry level position to the Head of Solar Services, providing strategic roadmapping and significantly grew a variety of solar products. She most recently acted as a Product Manager for GroundWorks Renewables and has provided freelance consulting to a number of our key developer Customers over the last few years.

Jessica Bascom

Electrical Engineer OE/EE

Jessie Bascom joined DNV as an Electrical Engineer on the EE team in April 2021 and currently resides in Austin, TX. In her role, she supports consulting projects by performing owner's engineering, technical due diligence for new construction through independent engineering, interconnection studies, and construction monitoring for the wind, solar PV, and energy storage industries. Her previous experience was in substation design within the EPC industry where she initially worked after graduating with a BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Hasan Tharwani

Engineer

Hasan Tharwani joined DNV’s electrical engineering team in April 2021. His role includes electrical design reviews, site inspections, and assessing risk and code compliance for solar generation projects as an independent engineer. He has previous experience developing low voltage electrical power distribution designs and has expertise performing power system analysis, including short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies. Hasan received his B.S degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Derek Roberts

​Senior Technical Project Manager Energy Analytics and Measurements

Ben Todd Derek joined the Measurements Team as a Senior Technical Project Manager. He brings a research background in environmental fluid mechanics, focused primarily on understanding the interplay of transport, water quality, and ecosystems in lakes and estuaries . In his previous positions – at the San Francisco Estuary Institute and the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center – Derek oversaw distributed sensor deployments and leveraged associated data to address water quality management challenges, his doctoral thesis at UC Davis focused on characterizing physical drivers of nearshore water quality variability in Lake Tahoe.

Tasha St.Clair

Senior Technical Project Manager

Ms. St.Clair joined DNV in 2021 and has 10+ years of project management and engineering experience. As a Senior Technical Project Manager on the Measurements team she is responsible for planning, execution, and reporting on wind turbine power performance measurements throughout North America. She also has extensive experience with testing instrumentation and has built lasting relationships with instrumentation crews by managing metrology support hardware for the wind industry.

Brian Kramak has joined the Wind Energy Assessment team as a Senior Wind Energy Analyst after 10+years of deep and extensive experience in SCADA analysis, operational assessments including both wind and solar projects, as well as portfolio benefit analysis.

Umay Akkoseoglu is a solar energy analyst working on utility scale solar energy and operational assessments. She has experience working on utility, C&I and solar plus storage projects. Previously, she has also worked on the design and implementation of energy efficiency and decarbonization programs as well as support energy modeling efforts for various projects.  Umay has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from University of California, San Diego.

Samuel Birru

Solar Energy Analyst

Samuel Birru is a solar energy analyst with over 4 years experience in PV system design and energy assessment for utility, commercial, and residential scale projects for Energy Trust of Oregon, Amazon and Homer Energy. Currently he is a member of the Energy Assessment Team at DNV, assessing the solar resource and the expected energy output of proposed or operational solar projects across North America. Mr. Birru has a Master of Engineering in Energy Management from University of Europa-Flensburg and a BSc in Industrial and System Engineering.

Jon Kalantar is a solar energy analyst with over 5 years experience in PV system design and energy assessment for utility, commercial, and residential scale projects. Currently he is a member of the Energy Assessment Team at DNV, assessing the solar resource and the expected energy output of proposed or operational solar projects across North America. Mr. Kalantar has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.

Matt Yamamoto started as an energy analyst in the Solar Energy Assessment team in April 2021. In less than a year, he has supported energy assessments on several solar distributed generation (DG) projects and is now supporting business development activities. Usgal Zandanbal

Solar Energy Analyst

Usgal Zandanbal is an energy engineer with 1 year solar energy and operational assessment experience in utility scale, C&I, and complex terrain projects. Previously, she had worked for a solar developer assisting in site identification efforts in multiple utility regions across the U.S., provided GIS assistance for projects 100MW and up, and completed various market researches. Usgal has a Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.

Tanner Cobb

Tanner Cobb joined DNV in 2021 and works as a Project Manager with the Distributed Generation Solar Independent Engineering Team. Tanner brings 10 years of professional experience in project management and engineering in both the public and private sector. In the renewable energy sector, Tanner brings skills in energy production assessments, technical design review, field engineering, quality control and assurance, owners engineering, commissioning, and O&M consulting. Prior to working with DNV, Tanner worked in a diverse range of industries including serving in the United States Marine Corps as a Communications Officer, as a Lead Field Service Engineer in solar development, and Lead Brewer at a U.S. regional brewery. Tanner has his Engineer In Training (EIT) certification, a Bachelor’s of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Energy Systems with graduate certificates in Renewable Energy and Engineering Leadership.

Juan Manuel Velazquez​

Juan Velazquez joined DNV in 2021 as a Project Manager in DNV's Solar Independent Engineering team. Juan has worked in the renewable energy field since 2017, with a background in utility-scale renewables project engineering in the US and Latin America. Prior to joining DNV, Juan served as a Project Engineer at Invenergy for about 4 years, leading the engineering and technical aspects of both utility-scale wind and solar projects throughout the US and internationally. As an international Project Engineer at Invenergy, Juan was instrumental in the design and optimization of Invenergy’s first solar plus storage project in Mexico. Juan holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

Eugene Koval​

Project Manager Solar IE

Mr. Eugene Koval has worked in renewables and Solar PV field since 2006, and has a wide range of experience and skills in both the technical and commercial aspects of solar PV racking manufacturing and EPC project execution. Prior to joining DNV, Eugene worked as a Senior Program Manager at Axsus, a Division of Magna, where he managed a delivery of 200+MW of SAT and Fixed Tilt racking projects in Canada and the US. Prior to Axsus, Eugene worked as a Director of Engineering, Commissioning and Warranty at GP JOULE, where he led a technical Products and EPC division of the company to support business development and execution of large scale commercial solar PV projects in Canada and the US. Eugene received a BAsc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Molly Cox

Project Manager Solar IE

Ms. Molly Cox joined DNV in October 2021 and is responsible for providing project management services for utility scale PV projects in North America. Ms. Cox has worked in the photovoltaics field for more than five years with experience in project cost estimating, product procurement and emerging technologies. Prior to joining DNV, Ms. Cox served as a PV analyst at Wood Mackenzie, where she published market research on global system cost and technology trends, with a focus on the US market. There, she maintained relationships with clients and provided them with insights needed to make informed business decisions for residential, commercial and utility scale projects. Before joining Wood Mackenzie, Molly served as an Account Manager with CivicSolar (now CED Greentech), where she helped PV installers design residential and small commercial projects, and sold them PV equipment. Ms. Cox also has experience in the ecotourism industry from her time at Lindblad Expeditions, where she managed operations for expedition cruises. Molly holds a Bachelor’s degree in global studies from Colby College, with a concentration in environmental studies.

Anthony Candelario

Project Manager Solar IE

Mr. Candelario joined DNV in 2021 as a Project Manager in the Solar Independent Engineering Section and is responsible for providing PV project due diligence and project management for utility scale projects in North America. Prior to joining DNV, he worked over 5 years as a Technical Service Manager and Technical Lead for Heliolytics, developing technology and systems for performing aerial inspection and analysis of over 70 GW of PV plants. Before entering the PV industry, Mr. Candelario worked in energy management, electrical power distribution equipment manufacturing, and international development focused primarily on projects in the water and sanitation and business development sectors. Mr. Candelario has received a M.Eng. in Clean Energy Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Ryerson University.

Samantha Beaulac, based in Portland, joined the Solar Technology team as a Senior Structural Engineer with over 9 years of experience in solar mounting systems, foundation, and building design.

Nathaniel Brunner

Engineer

Nathan Brunner brings over 7 years of experience in solar failure root cause analysis, operations, reliability statistics, and data analytics to the Solar Technology team. Nathan is based in Portland.

Quentin Perie

Project Manager

Quentin joined DNV in 2021 as a Project Manager in the DG Solar IE team. He is based in Montreal, supplementing DNV's presence in Quebec region. Prior to DNV, he held a position as a DG Solar Asset Manager with Amarenco, overseeing an extensive portfolio of projects, and brings an international perspective and experience in Operation & Maintenance. Quentin received his M.S in Process Engineering in 2017 (ENSIACET, France) with a focus on Renewable Energy.

Benjamin Zanetti

Project Manager

Mr. Zanetti has an optical engineering education and is a liscenced engineer in our Canadian office. He brings over 8 years experience in solar energy to the table.  His start was in off-grid & portable energy working in a startup designing portable systems.  He has since focused out with a focus on utility scale solar Operations & Maintenance and asset management. During his time at EDF Renewables and Skypower, Ben has been involved in M&A activity, Due Dilligence and PV repanelling. He is happy to provide the expereience he has gained in operational assets and management of various PV projects to the IE group at DNV.

Abby Ronnow is a design engineer with over seven years of experience in project management. The majority of her career has been in the solar energy industry in the context of engineering, construction, and client management. She takes joy in her talent for building consensus with internal teams, vendors, and key project stakeholders, and identifies as a versatile and proactive problem solver with solid technical capacity and excellent organizational leadership skills.

Jobin Michael is a Team Lead in DNV’s Solar Independent Engineering team. He has more than 12 years of experience in the renewable and utility sector. His background includes in-depth knowledge of power system engineering, solar plus storage project development, design and commissioning. Jobin holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Ontario Tech University, Canada and is a Licensed Professional engineer in Electrical Power systems. Prior to joining DNV Jobin served as a Sr Engineer at Baltimore Gas & Electric and an Engineering Manager at Standard Solar.
